The festival
Two days, one very short parade
Amargosa Days has run every spring since 1969, and it is the one weekend a year when the whole valley shows up in the same place. Recent years have drawn four to five hundred people to Amargosa Valley Park — close to a third of the town.
The festival's calling card is the parade, which is genuinely, deliberately short: about 800 yards, start to finish, and roughly twenty minutes of it. Entries line up by the fire station and everyone else lines the road.
Everything else fills the two days around it — a car show, a mud bog, kids' games, a horseshoe tournament, live music and a park full of food and craft booths. Admission and activities are free.

What usually happens
The line-up changes a little from year to year. These are the events that keep coming back.
World's Shortest Parade
Saturday morning. Line-up at 8:30 by the fire station, rolling at 9:00. Anyone can enter.
Car Show
Classics and hot rods parked up on the grass all afternoon.
Mud Bog
Four-wheel drives through the pit, early afternoon. Sand drag races have run in some years.
Live Music
The Wild Horse Band has played both days in recent years.
Kids' Games
Mechanical bull, bounce house and climbing wall, free for kids.
Sheriff's K-9 Show
Nye County Sheriff's Office puts the dogs through their paces.
Fire Department Water Cannons
The Amargosa Valley Volunteer Fire Department opens up the hoses.
Horseshoe Tournament
Sign-ups on the day. There's a gun raffle too, drawn Saturday afternoon.
Food & Craft Vendors
Booths line the park both days, along with club and agency displays.
When's the next one?
Amargosa Days lands in the spring, usually a Friday and a Saturday toward the end of April. The dates get pinned down closer to the time, so keep checking back here — they'll go up on this page and on the town calendar as soon as they're set.
